As a housing co-operative, we believe tenants should have a genuine say in how their homes are managed. From decisions about repairs to lettings and day-to-day upkeep, it’s the residents who shape how our community works — supported by the experience and guidance of CDS Co-operatives.
This model means more than just affordable housing. It means shared responsibility, stronger community ties, and a place where your voice matters.
How We’re Run
Franklyn Housing Co-operative is managed by a committee made up of residents who volunteer their time to help the community run smoothly.
Members are elected from within the co-op and supported by CDS Co-operatives, who provide expert advice, administrative help, and compliance support.
Whether it’s reviewing service standards, organising planned works, or responding to tenant feedback, decisions are made collaboratively and with residents’ best interests at heart.

Our Story & Support
Franklyn Housing Co-operative was built in phases between 1991 and 1993 by CDS Co-operatives. In 1993, ownership of the estate was transferred to the co-op, giving residents control over their housing for the first time.
To support this transition, a management agreement was signed in 1994 — and that partnership continues to this day.
While the day-to-day decisions are made by a committee of resident volunteers, CDS Co-operatives provides expert guidance, helps us stay compliant with housing standards, and supports us with administrative and technical services when needed.
Together, we’ve created a stable, tenant-led community that combines independence with professional support.
