How to Apply
Register with Kent Homechoice
Visit the “Apply for council housing” page on the Canterbury City Council website. This directs you to the Kent Homechoice portal where you can register, complete the eligibility assessment, and submit your details .
Complete the Full Application
After registering, you’ll receive a unique reference number, banding details, and information about bedroom eligibility. You’ll also be able to bid on available properties through the portal.

Eligibility: You’ll need to demonstrate a local connection to Canterbury and meet criteria like income, savings, and housing need .
Support Available: If you need help registering, call the Housing Needs Register team at 01227 862 518 .
Vacancy Allocation:
50% of homes are allocated via Council nominations through Kent Homechoice.
The other 50% come from the Co-op’s internal waiting list.
Internal transfers (existing residents) are prioritised before new applications.
HomeSwapper
Franklyn Co-op subscribes to the ‘ Homeswapper ‘ website so that tenants of the co-op have access to a free mutual exchange site. If you are a Franklyn co-op tenant looking to exchange properties, you can sign up on the website: www.homeswapper.co.uk.
If you find an exchange partner please then contact Franklyn co-ops lettings officers to request an exchange application form. The co-op will then carry out an inspection of your current property to ensure it is in good condition, and the proposed incoming tenant will be interviewed.
